What do you do day to day?

Look after the servers, network, phone system, PC’s and general IT equipment.

Programming web apps and a couple of software robots to automate processes.

What qualifications and experience do you have?

As for experience, I was in the Royal Navy for 11 years mainly on ships but once in a submarine, that gave me lots of experience over a very wide spectrum. I was part of the demolition team, the boarding party, at one point I was in charge of 4 accommodation blocks housing 750 juniors in training, I drove the admirals boat, chased pirates in Hong Kong, exercised against the SAS, was mentioned in dispatches during exercises with submarines, tracked Russian submarines, got to see the world, trained with the Ghurkas in Borneo, learned to program.

My career outside the RN has allowed me to work for and write programs for some of the big financial houses including JP Morgan, Aviva and Lloyds Bank plus multiple others.

I have been programming for over 30 years and working in IT for slightly longer.

What do you like about working here?

Every day is different, always something to keep me busy.

Flexibility is needed as some of the systems I work can’t be disrupted until everyone has finished.

The people are great to work alongside too.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

Outside of work I like to relax with my wife and dogs, we go all over in our caravan so we get to see Britain, don’t go abroad anymore, wouldn’t leave the dogs in kennels. Maybe if we could find a house / dog sitter we may go again one day.

Love to spend time with my grandchildren (7 of them) and also with our families.
